Alberto
Cavalieri, who qualified ahead of Giacomello, Valori,
Fossati and the excellent Blasutto, spurted from the
pole position. During the flying lap, Davenia had
to withdraw owing to a wet spark plug, while Cavalieri
was extremely fast at the green light and sprinted
ahead of Valori, Giacomello, De Berardinis, Blasutto
and Fossati. The first drivers fell victim of the
scrimmage after a contact between Boracco and Bonacina,
who were able to continue their race, though. At the
end of the 1st lap, Giacomello overtook Valori at
the Ciack bend, while Blasutto and Giacomelli had
a contact in the course of the following lap: they
had both to withdraw from the race. Giacomello continued
his climb overtaking also the leader Cavalieri during
the 3rd lap. In the course of the 5th lap, Giacomello
was at the head of the race with a lead of 1”
over Cavalieri and Valori, who were virtually racing
head-to-head. Andrea De Berardinis was 4th leading
a compact group formed by Fossati, Colombian Sala,
Villa, Severino, Szczepanik, Guffanti, Rovaris, Francesca
Linossi, Korczynski and the American Joeffry Amaya.
During the 6th lap, Fossati passed De Berardinis thus
conquering the 4th position, while Valori was still
in hot pursuit of Cavalieri. In the 9th lap, Valori
launched his attack against Cavalieri overtaking the
driver of the Arrow team at the Ciack bend. During
the 10th lap, Giacomello was leading almost 4”
ahead of Valori and Cavalieri. Fossati was in the
4th position, leading the chasing pack followed by
De Berardinis, Severino, Sala, Villa, Guffanti, Szczepanik,
Rovaris, Linossi and Barri. Between the 14th and the
16th lap, the fight for the 2nd placing began again:
Cavalieri overtook Valori, but the driver of the Fm
Competition team reacted quickly and managed to get
back ahead of his rival. Cavalieri tried once more
along the varied track and once more Valori reacted
to his attack. Fossati capitalized on this duel, getting
almost behind his rivals. But a dramatic turn of the
events occurred just 2 laps from the finishing line:
owing to the breaking of a reed, Giacomello was forced
to park his kart on the lawn. Thus, Valori took the
lead and managed to cross the finishing line ahead
of Cavalieri at the photo finish. For Valori, this
was a victory he couldn’t hope for up to Giacomello’s
withdrawal, which enabled the Lombard driver to reap
once more the honours already conquered in 2003 in
Ala di Trento. Christian Fossati climbed the 3rd step
of the podium after an excellent race among the leaders,
while Colombian Martin Sala ended up 4th. Towards
the end of the race, Giacomo Guffanti capitalized
on the scrimmage between Severino, Szczepanik and
Villa conquering the overall 6th place and the 5th
place among the Italians. The final scrimmage involved
also Rovaris, who was forced to withdraw while being
9th. Severino ended his race with an overall 7th place
(6th in the Italian results list), followed by Villa,
Szczepanik, Francesca Linossi, Korczynski, Barri,
Amaya, Angonoa, Ticozzi, Cuadriello and Dalton.
