Five
minutes before the start of the B Finals of the 60
Easykart, the Race Management allowed the drivers
to freely choose their tyres. As provided for by the
rules and regulations, everybody had ten minutes time
to put on slick tyres. The circuit was still wet on
several stretches, but the trajectories were quickly
drying up. The selection of the tyres is certainly
a gamble. Italian Bassan, who opted for the slick
tyres, started from the pole, while the current national
vice-champion, Torta, right next to him chose wet
tyres. Cotturri and Erica Gallina in the second row
picked both the rain tyres, while the Colombian girl
Tatiana Calderon, fifth at the starting grid, fitted
the slick tyres. At the green light, Cotturri was
faster than anybody else, but his start was judged
false and the young driver of the Biella Motor Team
was penalized with 10”. Bassan climbed to the
2nd position ahead of Torta, Gallina, Polish driver
Labeccki and Sances. Tatiana Calderon spun round right
away, and was forced to get back on the track in the
back rows. At the second lap, Scatigna spun through
180°, too, while Bassan (with slick tyres) overtook
Torta (with rain tyres) during the next lap, thus
gaining the 2nd position. Erica Gallina managed to
get right behind the leading group, too, and passed
first Torta and then Cotturri. At the end of the 6th
lap, Bonizzoni had a contact with Macchi and sent
his kart into a spin, while favourite Pietro Fittipaldi
was climbing up from the central pack: racing with
a crash helmet bearing the same colours of his famous
uncle, Pietro got right behind the 10th position,
in a rough scrimmage with Paschina, Zanini and Polish
driver Szczepanik to conquer the qualification for
the Finals in the afternoon. After the 9th lap, Cotturri,
Labeccki, Farioli and Sances were slipstreaming each
other fighting for the 3rd placing, while technical
problems forced both Giordana Pirrone and Marchesan
to withdraw. In the meantime, the leader Bassan kept
gaining ground on Erica Gallina: in the course of
the 10th lap, the young driver from Lombardy gained
a lead of 8” over the Domini team driver. Cotturri
led the chasing pack, even if the penalty he was given
at the start excluded him virtually from the possible
qualifying drivers. Cotturri was closely followed
by Labeccki, Farioli and Sances. Pietro Fittipaldi,
instead, was 7th ahead of Zanini, Paschina, Szczepanik,
Ingiardi, Torta, Macchi, Anselmi, Lamanuzzi, Daniso
and Rosa. In the course of the 11th lap, Zanini and
Paschina sent their karts into a spin, while Labeccki
overtook Gallina conquering the 2nd position during
the next lap. In the course of the last 2 laps, Bassan
kept the situation under control, while in the rear
a very fast Tatiana Calderon tried to catch up recording
the fastest lap during the last phase of the race:
the young Colombian girl ended her race 15th after
an endless number of overtakings. Bassan was first
at the finishing line with a lead of 12” over
the excellent Labeccki. Erica Gallina won the 3rd
place followed by Sances, Fittipaldi and Zanini, who
conquered the last available placing for the International
Finals. Matteo Cotturri ended his race 4th, but the
penalty relegated him back to the 12th position. However,
the one suffering the greatest disappointment was
Federico Farioli (7th), knocked out by mere 4 tenths
of a second. The driver of the Domini team was followed
by Ingiardi, Paschina and Lamanuzzi.
