EASYKART 125 Shifter – Finals

VICTORY BELONGS TO RANICA

Birel’s official drivers Francesco Laudato and Manuel Cozzaglio took part in the race, but only in order to promote the 1st official event of the newly-born Shifter category. As predicted, they conquered the first row and at the start they took the lead with Laudato overtaking Cozzaglio on the outside at the 1st turn. Menegazzo came behind the two, managing to keep pace with the his more titled opponents. But at the end of the 2nd lap, the driver from Veneto was stopped by a technical problem; two laps later, Cozzaglio also stopped due to a breakage of the chain. At the 5th lap Laudato was in the lead by himself, with Ranica behind him. Galimberti followed in 3rd position, then Castiglioni and Coppetti. Right from the first stage of the race, the anticipated duel between Laudato and Cozzaglio failed to materialise and Ranica assumed the role of Laudato’s opponent with authority: thanks to the slowdown of the Birel’s two-time champion, the Superteam driver started, together with Laudato himself, a series of spells in the lead. In the final lap, Laudato gave way to the real protagonists of the race and Ranica increased his advantage over Galimberti to 3”; in his turn, Galimberti increased his margin over Castiglioni to almost 5”. Ranica was first to cross the finishing line gaining a clean, deserved victory, Galimberti and Castiglioni climbing on the podium next to him. Copetti finished in 4th place followed by Cricò, Griguoli, Drudi, Triolo and Silvia Radaelli, the lady fielded by Superteam. At the end of the race all protagonists commented enthusiastically on the new, eagerly-awaited Easykart category, for which a successful 2007 is expected.

The winner Michel Ranica commented: “For once, duelling with drivers of the calibre of Laudato was a great experience, very thrilling. As far as the category is concerned, I think it has high potential: it is fun and the vehicles are very competitive, if less extreme than National engines.”
