The
titles assigned during the International Easykart Finals
2004 contributed to surrounding the event with that extra
special atmosphere experienced in all promising and prestigious
sport events. The weekend in Arce provided all racing drivers
with a formative experience that only title events are able
to offer, especially to entry level and training categories.
A series of beautiful pictures – a forward to the
hard fact sport news - showcase how feelings ran in the
paddocks, during test driving, and participants' tension
and expectations. Starting with young class 60 drivers,
kids between the ages of 8 and 12 from 6 different countries:
for them all, the Final in Arce meant the chance to participate
in an international race, a feature that no other introductory
category is able to offer to their age group. But even for
the more experienced drivers in the 100 and 125 categories,
participating in the Arce Final proved to be an important
career experience. In terms of racing spirit, excitement
was assured by the great number of potential winners in
each category. All races were open game right up to the
chequered flag, awarding the viewing audience with superb
showmanship.
Following the qualification races, the Finals for the National
and International Titles in each category were held on Sunday
afternoon, as well as the B Final for the 125 category reserved
for non-qualified drivers. Precisely, the B Final opened
the race programme: it was won by fine Kaitlin Mangham,
defeating Ivano Cervoni and Antonio Scanziani. Max Gazzè
also participated in this Final and finished in 12th place
overall.
The Class 60 Final opened instead the title race programme.
Among the young drivers, the Czech Jan Midrla came first,
while honour placings went to the American Ordonez and the
Colombian Daza. Luca Defendi, sprinting from the pole position,
won the 4th place overall and was 1st among the Italians,
confirming himself the National Champion in front of Matteo
Torta. In the 100 category, the American Scheer came in
first, while Davide Montoro arrived 2nd to become the National
Champion and International Vice-Champion. By winning the
Final in the 125 category, Stefano Cobianchi won instead
the International and National titles. The Blu Racing driver
finished before Fabio Rota and Emiliano Cervoni.
