EASYKART 60: MIDRLA, INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION, AND DEFENDI, NATIONAL CHAMPION
THE CZECH DRIVER WINS BOTH RACE AND INTERNATIONAL TITLE IN FRONT OF ORDONEX AND DAZA. LUCA DEFENDI (4TH) IS THE NATIONAL CHAMPION IN FRONT OF TORTA AND DAVENIA.

Three drivers competed for the pole position in the 2nd round of qualifications, after the first session was raced using rain tyres because of rainfall the previous night, namely the Czech, Midrla, Cavalieri and Defendi. These three drivers went under the 57” threshold and Luca Defendi was a few thousandths away with a pole position of 56”783 chronometer time. Alongside him, Midrla qualified with only 92 thousandths delay and Cavalieri came in 3rd place. Another Italian qualified in 4th place, the Northeastern Area Champion, Torta, while the current American champion Spencer Pigot and Danny Daniso sprinted from the 3rd row. The excitement created some problems to the young drivers in the test lap and the Race Management Committee had to repeat the start procedure. At the 2nd start off, there was some more contact in the centre of the group, that penalised Erica Gallina who started late. A technical problem, instead, forced the Colombian Alzate to move into the rear positions. Luca Defendi immediately took the lead, followed by Cavalieri, Torta, Midrla, Daza, Pigot, Davenia, Daniso, De Berardinis and Zonzini. At the 2nd lap, Daniso and De Berardinis made contact forcing both to the rear of the group. At the 3rd lap, Midrla overcame Cavalieri and with the following lap went to the head of the group in front of leader Defendi. In the meantime, Cavalieri and Torta, had to fend off Ordonez and Daza's attacks. Further back, Davenia rallied back with a slight margin over Zonzini, Rocca and Ranzini. At the 5th lap, Cavalieri had turned off onto the lawn because of a technical problem and was able to restart his engine only after two laps. For the top Italian driver this was yet another unfortunate episode in the season. The following lap, once again because of technical problems, Ranzini was also forced to withdraw from the race. Meanwhile at the lead, Midrla moved a few metres up closer to Defendi, while the American duo Ordonez and Daza pursued the Italian relentlessly. Matteo Torta held his ground firmly at 5th and in the second half of the race started to reclaim a few metres on his opponents. Instead, at the centre of the group, the scene was set by a battle between 8 drivers nearing the 10th place, Farioli, Plazzi, Mazzeo, Scotti, Rivella, Montemagno, Daniso and Rocca that continued to overtake each other. Overtaking also characterised the back of the group made up of Riva, Amaya, Erica Gallina, Alzate, Lamanuzzi and Schirosi that put up a valiant fight. Andrea De Berardinis, the Blu Racing driver, emerged in the main phase of the race as he had often done in the previous season, managing to move up to the 10th place right behind Roby Dalton and Gian Marco Macchi. Unfortunately, just as he was about to battle his opponents, Cavalieri made contact with him as he tried to recover the lost laps due to his previous problem. Regardless, De Berardinis managed to keep himself on track, but the Race Management Committee decided to exclude Cavalieri from the race for that manoeuvre. The last stages of the race were marked by the struggle for 2nd place between the Colombian Daza and the American Ordonez, and for 4th place between Defendi and Torta who were also contending for the National Title. 9 laps from the end, the race lost yet another important participant, the American champion Spencer Pigot hampered by technical problems. And just a few laps later, the Italian Zonzini was also forced to withdraw. Midrla flew right under the chequered flag, with over 10” margin on Ordonez, becoming the International Champion in his category. The American, Ordonez was Vice-Champion, while the Colombian, Daza stood 3rd on the podium. Luca Defendi, on the other hand, contrasted Torta's attacks in the last few laps and protected his 4th place, for which he obtained the National Title. Torta closed the race at 5th to become the National Vice-Champion, while Matteo Davenia moved to 3rd on the final Italian podium by arriving 6th overall. The 7th place went to Roby Dalton, in front of De Berardinis, the excellent Macchi, Farioli, Plazzi, Mazzeo, Scotti and Rivella who made up the top ten in the National Italian ranking. Closing the race were Montemagno, Daniso, Rocca, Amaya, Erica Gallina, Lamanuzzi, Riva, Schirosi and Alzate.
